The Beatles once said it, and I'll repeat it, money can't buy you love. But it can buy you pretty things.
In other words, I am the proud owner of a DeviantArt Artist Bag. Took me a while to put it together, but it is quite nice. It should fit my gorgeous Macbook Pro and my Wacom tablet. Yay.
I also have some books that are coming my way:
Character Animation Crash Course!
The Illusion of Life: Disney Animation
The Complete Animation Course: The Principles, Practice and Techniques of Successful Animation
Can you tell I'm aspiring to get into animation? Being graduated now, I'm looking for new ways to push my bounderies and chase my dreams. Had I known four years ago that art was my passion, and that I had possible talent, I might have chosen a different course. Is this what you call regret?
I have briefly considered starting another four year course in animation or illustration, but then I'll be twenty-six when I finish and will not have moved on the academic ladder because it was just be another Bachelor's degree. So maybe I'll just stick to my Bachelor of ICT and try not to regret. I'm looking for a creative Master course, but it's proving very difficult. I'm also trying to get a job, but I need more information on my possibilities in that field, first. I've only been graduated for like two months and already feel stuck.
I'm calling upon you, oh artistic friends, to cheer me up and perhaps to give me some advice.
As for the books, there are a couple more on my wishlist on Amazon, but I've run out of money, at least, that's what I'm telling myself. it's my birthday in September, so if you've got money you'd like to spend on me for whatever reason, tell me and I'll mail you my Amazon Wishlist.

I'm going to say - screw the academic ladder. You want another bachelor's degree? Go for it. I have a friend who has a college degree, two years as my university's student president, a bachelor of arts in history, and a bachelor of arts in classics under his belt. He's thirty years old and doesn't have a full-time job yet, but he is one of the most interesting and fulfilled people I know. And I am sure he will end up in a career that makes him excited to get up in the morning. One of the secrets to lifelong happiness, I am sure, is to find something you like to do and get someone to pay you for doing it. Life is too short to always wish you were doing something else.
That said, oftentimes people end up in career fields that have nothing to do with their education. My friend's mom has a Ph.D in environmental biology, but her job is teaching Native Studies and Ojibwe at my university. My dad got a degree in Sports Administration, and now he's a Sales Manager for Xerox Canada. My aunt went to teacher's college, and now she works for the government, in Employment Insurance. Basically, just because your education didn't focus on animation, doesn't mean you can't get a job in the field and learn as you go.
P.S. Send me that birthday list!
For now, I've decided on letting things run their course for a while, see what life brings me. I have an operation on the way as well, so if I do take on another course, it wouldn't be until October next year anyway. I've calmed down considerably.
Hm, sometimes I wish you were closer to me, I'd come by and visit.
My Amazon Wishlist has just been updated with things people can actually afford.
Good plan, leaving the decision for later. It'll give you more time to think it over.
I bought the 'Animation Crash Course' book last year, and I liked it so much. Eric Goldberg's style is perfect to show you the basic principles of animation. Still need to practise and watch the videos, but the written part is incredibly easy to read and definitely enjoyable!
